Abstract
As recommended by the ALRC and NSWLRC Report (Recommendation 31.2), a National Domestic and Family Violence Bench Book, funded by the Australian Government and the Australasian Institute of Judicial Administration (AIJA), was produced. The purpose of the Bench Book is to promote consistency in the interpretation and application of laws across jurisdictions, offer guidance and promote best practice among judicial officers.

Professor Heather Douglas, lead researcher and project co-ordinator with the AIJA on the development of the Bench Book, will highlight the core content of the Bench Book and its significance to practice in the family law system.
