Abstract
This presentation focuses on lessons from the Inner Gippsland Children and Youth Area Partnership, in south-eastern Victoria, where the voice of community and families has been central to designing solutions to ensure local kids get a GREAT start by focusing on their first 1,000 days of life. The Victorian Government established eight Children and Youth Area Partnerships (Area Partnerships) across Victoria to trial a new approach to improving the life chances of children, young people and their families.

Area Partnerships bring together key leaders from across government, the service system, business, philanthropy and the wider community to test and try new approaches which are sensitive to local needs and work to address the systemic and local factors that contribute to the vulnerabilities of children, young people and their families.

In particular, the presentation will describe the intended outcomes, the process and tools used to help participants come up with effective, innovative ways to address complex problems in the early childhood space
