Professor Helen Rhoades

Helen Rhoades is a Professor of Law at the University of Melbourne and a Commissioner at the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC). She is currently leading the ALRC’s review of the family law system, which is due to report to the Attorney-General in March 2019. Helen has researched and published extensively in the area of family and children’s law, including two edited collections in the field: Vulnerable Children and the Law: International Perspectives on Challenges to Child Welfare, Child Protection and Children’s Rights (Jessica Kingsley, London: 2012), co-edited with Professors Rosemary Sheehan and Nicky Stanley, and Law and the Family (Ashgate, 2006), co-edited with Professor Susan Boyd. Professor Rhoades is also a former Chair of the Family Law Council (2010-2016), which provides policy advice on family law matters to the Attorney-General.
